Microsoft Teams Calling refers to the capability for people to make and receive telephone within Microsoft Teams regardless of device or location. Making and receiving calls to and from landlines and mobile phones on the public switch telephone network (PSTN) to and from Teams is available with an add-on like Microsoft 365 Business Voice or is included in Microsoft 365 E5. These options provide a cloud-based phone system with features such as hold, blind and safe transfers, and reporting features for professionals who manage calling solutions.

One of the many services essential for customers, due to requirements to work from home and the move towards a hybrid working model, is the ability to make and receive phone calls, regardless of where you are working from. Some of our customers already have phone systems that allow calls to be made from a client on a laptop or mobile, but that means another app that everyone needs to work with and in some cases, performance is less than desired.
A number of our clients who didn’t have phone systems that could provide remote use have continued along the Microsoft recommended Teams deployment path and are deploying the Microsoft Phone System. Licensed mainly as the Business Voice add on to a qualifying M365 product (Phone System, Audio Conferencing, and a domestic call plan), we have now deployed Teams Telephony for many customers.
Moving to the Microsoft phone system can also reduce the need to provide company or corporate mobile phones, as Microsoft phone system users can make and receive calls from a range of devices and manage their availability to allow them to answer calls no matter where they are.
