Meet Iain Dunn, an IT Support Analyst who joined Quorum from the RAF. Read on to hear about his transition from the military to civilian life.

What was my role before Quorum?

Prior to joining Quorum, my professional journey revolved around my service in the RAF as an IT Technician. In this role, I had the vital responsibility of preparing and maintaining IT equipment for deployment, whether it be within the UK or in various overseas locations.

I was also the go-to person for assisting users with any technical issues they encountered, often requiring me to deploy myself to the field to provide on-ground support. During my time in the RAF, I had the privilege of working alongside some truly remarkable individuals and being a part of some outstanding teams.

One of the notable highlights of my career was contributing to the introduction of a new Tri-Service deployment IT capability, which was a significant milestone in our mission.

What promted my career move?

The decision to transition from the RAF to the civilian workforce stemmed from a desire to seek a fresh challenge and push my boundaries. Quorum immediately caught my attention during the interview process.

Their focus on working with the latest Microsoft Cloud Technology was an exciting prospect, and the people I interacted with during the interview stages played a pivotal role in convincing me to make the change. I was truly impressed by the culture at Quorum, where everyone I spoke to was incredibly helpful, friendly, and refreshingly honest when I asked questions.

What advice would I give to others thinking of a career change?

If I were to offer advice to anyone contemplating a career change, especially those in the midst of the resettlement process after leaving the military and aspiring to work in the field of Cloud IT in Edinburgh, it would be this: seriously consider Quorum as your employer of choice.

From the very beginning, their support and flexibility throughout my transition and relocation were unparalleled. Six months into my journey with Quorum, I can confidently say that joining this organization has proven to be an outstanding decision, and I continue to feel not just welcomed but valued as a member of the Quorum team.
