Keith Atherton MVP Award Banner

In the realm of technology, there are individuals who stand out for their exceptional knowledge, passion, and unwavering commitment to the community. Keith Atherton, one of Quorum’s senior developers, has recently been recognised as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) in the area of Business Applications. This prestigious accolade is a testament to Keith’s expertise, dedication, and remarkable contributions to the world of technology.

Keith is not just an MVP, he’s a Microsoft Certified Software Architect & Developer, published LinkedIn Learning instructor, Power Apps Super User, public speaker, weekly blogger, and mentor!

How did you become an MVP?

“After watching an impressive robotics demo at a tech user group event, I was inspired to give a presentation myself. So, I submitted a session for an Azure user group, and amazingly, it got selected!

I then prepared and delivered the session, which was well received. After the success of that initial presentation, I began engaging in more tech community work, such as giving virtual and in-person presentations for user groups and conferences, starting a blog, assisting others in community forums, and mentoring others.

Having been involved in tech community work for some time, an MVP graciously offered to nominate me for the MVP award. I completed the application, and after a short wait, I received the award in June 2023!”

What does it mean to you?

“I’ve always loved helping others and sharing knowledge. So, to be named an MVP – referred to by Microsoft as “technology experts who passionately share their knowledge with the community” – is a very proud moment.

While receiving the MVP award is an honour, it’s also a privilege to be part of a movement to help others which I take seriously.”

Why are you so passionate about technology

“For me, technology is a means to solve problems which help people – whether that be a simple spreadsheet or highly-complex system.

My main passion is being able to keep up to date with the continuously evolving technology tools and services available so that I can solve those problems for others, which is something I’m able to do every day at Quorum.”

What do you want to get out of the MVP program

“MVPs get many benefits such as early access to Microsoft products and direct communication channels with Microsoft product teams.

I’m looking forward to learning about interesting new technologies as they become available, using them to help others, and – where allowed – share that knowledge with everyone.”

Who are MVPs?

Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) are technology experts who passionately share their knowledge with the community. They are at the forefront of innovation, continuously exploring new and exciting technologies. With deep knowledge of Microsoft products and services, MVPs possess the ability to bring together diverse platforms, products, and solutions to solve real-world problems.

What is the MVP Award?

The MVP Award is Microsoft’s way of acknowledging outstanding community leaders in the technology field. It recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to the community, whether through speaking engagements, social media presence, content creation, or active participation in online forums. MVPs are distinguished by their technical expertise, community spirit, and willingness to help others.

What does it take to be an MVP?

Becoming an MVP requires expertise, a genuine passion for technology, and a strong commitment to community engagement. MVPs excel in their chosen areas of specialisation, continuously updating their knowledge to stay ahead of the curve. They actively contribute to the community, sharing their insights, assisting others, and making a tangible impact with their skills.

How can I become an MVP?

To become an MVP, you must first receive a nomination referral from a recognised source, such as a Microsoft Full Time Employee (FTE) or a current MVP. This referral acknowledges your exceptional leadership and contributions within the technical community.

Continuing the Journey

Keith’s recognition as an MVP is not the culmination of his journey; rather, it marks a new beginning. Armed with this prestigious title, Keith is driven to further his impact on the technology landscape. He remains dedicated to empowering others, contributing to the community, and exploring new frontiers within the ever-evolving realm of Microsoft technologies.
