Interview – Andrew Kemp – Senior Consultant

Welcome to interview number 13 in this series, where we talk to some of the newer Quorumites about their first six months in role!

Today we’re chatting with Andrew Kemp a Senior Consultant in our Consultancy team. Andrew is an expert in Microsoft 365 Modern Work, helping customers secure, use, and get the most out of their Microsoft 365 Subscription. He specialises in Security and Identity and Access Management.

Tell us a bit about your role?

I am a Senior Consultant in the Enterprise Consultancy team, so it’s a fairly varied role, working on customer projects varying from small/medium business to large scale enterprises. Specifically dealing with Security and Identity and Access Management.

What have been your most notable moments so far?

For me its working with an amazing team who are all ~~geeks~~ like minded and want what is best for the customer.

It was a whirlwind of a start as I engaged with a large customer from the start where I could get stuck in and make an impact for both the customer and Quorum.

How does Quorum differ from previous employers you’ve had?

Quorum differs from previous employers because of 1) the size, you and your role actually matter to the company and 2) the company ethos.

I have worked for companies of various sizes over my years in IT, including the likes of Microsoft, where you can easily get lost and are really just a number.

There is a strong emphasis on continual learning here and Quorum will support you in your learning path.

What advice would you give to anyone interested in joining Quorum?

Speak to Jackie Begbie or Tom Francis if you’re interested in joining the team. Actually, if you know anyone who works here, speak to them, I’ll happily have a chat with anyone.

For me it helped building up professional relationships with people in the company years ago (going as far back as 2014). Just be your authentic self. It doesn’t matter if you feel you’re not an expert in anything, but if you have the right attitude and are keen to progress your IT career, drop us a message on LinkedIn, take that first step.

What do you hope to achieve in the next six months?

For our customers, to continue to help them make the most of of the technology they currently have.

Internally, i’d like to hopefully look at mentoring the younger talent as they come in to the company, their skills are second to none, so i’d like to help them gain that much needed industry experience.

Other than that get some more certificates and grow my own knowledge!
