SQLBits is the industry’s leading Data Platform conference with over 300 sessions across 5 days covering data technologies including SQL Server, Azure, Big Data, Power BI, Machine Learning, and more.
“Make my report pop – using psychology, physiology, and design to create dazzling report” where they delved into the intricate interplay between psychology, physiology, and design in crafting visually striking reports. Their insightful exploration provided attendees with valuable strategies for enhancing the effectiveness and impact of their reports.
Additionally, Robert French took the stage for his solo presentation:
“How to be awesome at getting your next job.” Drawing upon his years of expertise and lived experience of career changes, Robert shared invaluable insights and advice to leave listeners with practical tips and techniques!
We asked them both about their experience talking at this years conference:
This year, I had the pleasure of volunteering, adding to the event’s positive atmosphere and striving to make it memorable for all attendees. The sessions I attended highlighted Quorum’s impressive skills in data visualisation and design, reaffirming its reputation as a leader in the field.
I also had the honour of co-presenting with Olivia Wise. Our extended session, led by Olivia’s expertise, received enthusiastic feedback from the audience. It was rewarding to engage with attendees and offer insights into improving their dashboards.
My following session, “How to be awesome at finding your next job,” was equally well-received, sparking meaningful discussions with several attendees asking questions.
For those who haven’t attended, SQL Bits must be experienced to appreciate the lasting positive impact it has on individuals and the broader data community.
Presenting with Rob was an amazing experience and I am so thankful to have a mentor like him.
I attended 2 further days packed full of informative and interesting sessions, met lots of lovely people to nerd about all things data with, and of course – brought back lots of freebies for the rest of the team!
This goes for the talks too – I attended some fascinating talks about technologies that, up until that point, I had only known about tangentially. I feel honored that I was able to hear talks from people who are so knowledgeable, and the things that I learned make me eager to explore it further.
SQLBits was epic, as always. I was lucky enough to spend time learning with Monica Rathbun and John Morehouse from Denny Cherry Associates, discussing all things performance and SQL. I have learned so much at the event, covering my favorite topic, SQL Server.
There were plenty of sessions on Fabric, and I really enjoyed some of the soft skills sessions and listening to how Steph Martin dealt with burnout, which was quite moving and really hit home with some of the attendees. I managed to meet a puppet called Fab Rick, who was a great presenter.
I always attend the event as a volunteer and have been doing so for over 10 years. As a volunteer, the days are long but rewarding. This year, I also had the pleasure of meeting a huge number of guide dogs, as the event also raised money for such a good cause.
The theme of aviation was really visible in the party outfits and the party itself. The parties at SQLBits are always memorable and are a good way to wrap up a week’s worth of learning.
Outside of the sessions, my highlights were having the opportunity to meet some amazingly talented people in their field, getting the chance to talk to them one-on-one, conversing with them on a personal level, and gaining as much knowledge as I could from them in the process.
Congratulations to Rob and Olivia for their engaging talks on “Make my report pop” and “How to be awesome at getting your next job.” Their contributions exemplify Quorum’s commitment to innovation and expertise in the field of data.
