Interview – Issie French – Finance Administrator.
Welcome back to our series where we talk to some of the newer Quorumites about their first six months in role!
Today we find out a bit more about Issie French, a Finance Administrator in our Operations team.
How were you introduced to Quorum?
I first came across Quorum when I saw the role I’m currently in advertised on a job site. I looked up the company at that point and was really impressed by the strong focus on culture and values, so I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to join the team.
What were you doing before you joined Quorum?
Before joining Quorum, I worked part time for the family engineering business, Motivity – an electric motor consultancy – after graduating from university last summer. As part of a small team, I supported a wide range of activities, from administration through to manufacturing, which gave me hands on experience across different areas of the business.
Tell us about your job and team.
I work as a Financial Administrator within the Operations team, currently covering maternity leave. The team has been incredibly welcoming and supportive while training me on the wide variety of tasks they manage, which has made settling in much easier.
Any notable moments from your first six months?
It’s not a specific moment as such but throughout these first few months, I’ve been repeatedly amazed with the shared collective memory that the ops team has.
What have you achieved in your first six months?
My focus has been learning as much as possible and getting up to speed quickly. I’ve gradually taken on more responsibility, with the aim of easing the workload the team carried during the initial transition.
What do you hope to achieve over the next six months?
I’m really looking forward to properly meeting people at the upcoming BBQ and continuing to build relationships across the company. I’m keen to grow my confidence in the role, naturally take on more responsibility and be a bigger help to the Operations team. I hope to continue supporting the team wherever I can and contribute to the smooth running of Quorum’s day to day processes behind the scenes.
How is Quorum different from other employers?
Although my experience of different workplaces is still fairly limited, Quorum really stands out as a supportive environment where teamwork is at the heart of everything.
What advice would you give to anyone interested in joining Quorum?
Everyone is so friendly that even if you don’t have existing contact with anyone, don’t let that discourage you from reaching out.
