Interview – Hannah Bleck – Junior Developer.
Welcome to interview number 16 in this series, where we talk to some of the newer Quorumites about their first six months in role!
If you missed our last interview with Emma Dolling, one of our Senior Data Engineers, you can find that here.
Today we find out a bit more about Hannah Bleck, a Junior Developer in our Development team.
How were you introduced to Quorum?
I suppose it’s almost been a direct link. In my last job for a Scottish MSP I worked as a Junior Cloud Engineer. In that role I worked on a variety of client projects that included working with the Power Platform and creating Power Apps and automated flows. That kind of led me to my role in Quorum, where I’m continuing to work on Power Platform, but I’m specialising in it more now.
Tell me a bit about your role?
I am a developer in the Development Team. So far, I’ve worked on a mix of internal and client facing projects, both focussing on Power Apps. Internally I’ve been working on resource planning.
Other than that, I’ve been doing a bit of training and upskilling.
Any notable moments from your first 6 months?
The social events have stuck out for me, being able to get outside of my regular job and meet people. Getting to meet up with my team has also been fun.
A big stand out is the AGM. It is a really fun day and the content that the marketing team come up with is great.
What has been your highlights so far?
I’ve worked on an enjoyable project for a large client that that’s been really good fun. It’s not quite over the line yet, but I’ve enjoyed working with the team there and it’s been great to see how our work is impacting the customer already. You can see how useful it’s going to be for them which really feels like an achievement.
Tell us about your working patterns.
I work remotely and that has been great for me personally as it removes the commuting aspect. I study part-time as well and working from home has facilitated that. It’s nice, because when I do go into the office it’s because the Dev Team have agreed to go in together and meet up.
That works perfectly for me as I get more value from working in the office when my team’s also there, but working from home definitely benefits my study patterns.
How does Quorum differ from others employers you’ve had?
It’s got a really relaxed atmosphere. This is the first job I’ve had where flexible working truly means flexible working. Many companies claim to offer flexibility, but in reality, they are not that accommodating. However, with Quorum, you can choose 100% when you work from the office or otherwise.
There’s also a big push for learning and continual development which is great. There’s a lot of support for gaining certifications and things like that.
What do you hope to achieve over the next six months?
I’m just looking forward to getting on board with more projects and I’m really hoping to get certified in some more Microsoft Power Platform development certificates.
